Care Giving at Faith Presbyterian Church
A prime objective at Faith Presbyterian Church is to plan and oversee a depth and breadth of Christian caring and fellowship to the members of the church. True fellowship must grow as caring becomes genuine and attains depth.
Faith also has formed a supportive and working relationship with the Board of Deacons, whose contacts with their zone members is a key piece of the care of membership. Faith also fully supports the Stephen Minister program and ensures that adult fellowship events occur which involve the congregation as a whole. In addition, Faith provides leadership to oversee, support, and encourage the formation of support groups in the church that have as their purpose to meet regularly with persons who have similar interests.
One of the distinctive hallmarks of Faith is the strong and caring relationships that members actively seek with one another. Faith continues to mold and model the "web of care" that distinguishes this church family. Pastoral care is important for "cultivating faithful relationships" with members of Faith. The leadership at Faith participates in pastoral care visitation and oversees a pastoral care ministry that supports and reinforces the "web of care" principles that are characteristic of this church. To achieve the care giving objective, Faith implements a program of care, carried out by the officers, staff, and volunteers of this church, which addresses the actual needs of the membership of our congregation. These persons in need may be those who are sick, those facing surgery, those in nursing homes, those going through difficult times and circumstances, the friendless, those in depression, the lonely, or any persons in distress. We must ensure that our congregation is ministering, through active delegation or intentional planning, to any of those hurting and suffering members.
