FAITH PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA

Faith's Mission Statement is "to cultivate faithful relationships."  Faith’s Vision statement, as symbolized by the soaring bird logo to the right, is identified as the “Wings of Faith.”  WINGS is an acronym for Worship, Invite, Nurture, Grow, and Serve.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we celebrate God’s grace, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to:

  • Worship the living God and welcome our neighbors warmly;
  • Invite others to experience the gospel;
  • Nurture those in need and enjoy life together as God’s people;
  • Grow as disciples; and
  • Serve our community and worldas we dare to dream in Christ’s name.

Our vision statement appropriately represents Faith as a Christ-centered, Spirit-driven, and mission-focused church.  We are true to the Great Commission.  We endeavor to make a difference in the world by making disciples and creating an attitude of servanthood.  We think creatively, fostering, embracing, and striving to let process, purpose, and passion thrust us to the next level of excellence in ministry.  Ephesians 4:11-12 inspires us as we, and our leaders, empower others for ministry and discover our gifts.

Like many congregations, we come from different backgrounds, educations, experiences, and cultures.  We use the basic disciplines of study, prayer, conversation, listening, forgiveness, and forbearance to develop an attitude of unity.  Our core values are reflected in the way we feed the poor, house the homeless, comfort the afflicted, and show God’s love to those outside the walls of our building.

We carefully study controversial issues, encouraging members from both sides to present their viewpoints, as we consider them with great respect.  Our church affirms that we believe Jesus Christ is our Savior and we acknowledge Him to be Lord of all.  We trust in the Bible as the unique and authoritative witness to Jesus Christ and God’s witness to us. We affirm traditional ethical standards revealed in the Scriptures, and we listen carefully for the Spirit’s voice in our lives today.  As disciples, we are called to growth and development at every stage of life.  We find meaning and joy in living for others, rather than for ourselves. The church exists for the worship of God and for service to humanity.  God calls us to continually expand our circle.  Welcoming our neighbors and nurturing the needy are as central to our congregation as enjoying our lives together.

Faith focuses on these intertwining areas:  youth, building relationships, Christian education, and mission.   Some of our programs are listed below (click on program listed in blue for further information).

Logos – A mid-week evening event to help children nurture relationships with Christ, other youth, and adults is comprised of dinner, recreation, worship skills, and Bible time.

 Youth Group – A vibrant group meets Sunday evenings to share a meal, form friendships, and discern God’s plan for them.

TGIF – Teens Growing In Faith is our ministry to developmentally challenged teens and their families.

Small Groups – Groups with stated mission projects and goals meet monthly and provide spiritual formation for the group.

Stephen Ministry – Members of our congregation receive special training to provide one-to-one Christian care by listening, encouraging, and providing emotional support to those who are experiencing life difficulties.

Music -  Faith Presbyterian Church has a variety of music programs for children through adults.  This includes our contemporary music performed by the Dawn, the traditional music performed by the adult choir, handbells, children choirs, and other special music.  Click here to get in touch with the Music Director.

Crafty Foxes - A dedicated group of people of all ages gathers once a month to knit and crochet together, to pray together, and to reflect on the goodness of God’s love for all of us.  From this union, they have created Warm Up America afghans, prayer shawls, chemo caps, rag rugs, slippers, fuzzy scarves, lap blankets, shrugs, bed jackets, polar fleece blankets, and patchwork quilts just to name a few.  These items are then prayerfully donated to cancer patients, nursing homes, shelters, Habitat for Humanity, and local missions. This group welcomes all skill levels. Even if you don’t know how to knit or crochet but would like to learn, this is the place for you. Lessons are ongoing.

Christian Education – An integral part of Faith is the opportunity to study together.   Sunday morning classes are offered for children through adults, as well as, Chats with a Pastor on special topics.  Throughout the week others may be involved in Disciple or other Bible studies.  Adults, youth, and children are enrolled in Christian Education classes using the Disciple Courses and other Presbyterian publications Sunday morning and through the week.

Mission – Service to others includes involvement with Interfaith Hospitality Network (presently not in operation in this area), Westminster Ministries, and partnerships in Mexico and the Congo.  Faith has sent mission groups to Mexico, Congo, I.H.N., and the urban Westminster Ministry which supply personnel, money, time, and goods as required in serving these special needs.
